Dream Big and Dream Often

Whether you're a casual or serious automobile enthusiast, driving the rare car of your dreams is the ultimate thrill ride. Finding and buying a classic car is a challenge for even the most experienced collectors. Stumbling across a precious rarity gathering dust in a local barn may happen easily on a "reality" TV show, but it's a scenario that rarely transpires in real-life individuals.

Patience and perseverance are two traits you will need to possess when it comes to searching for your dream automobile. After all, a vehicle is rare for a reason, and that makes finding and buying a unicorn of an uncommon make and model a challenge.

Personal taste often dictates demand for these vehicles more than actual collectability. Rare cars can be classics, but not all classic cars are rare.

"Rarity is defined in cars as in anything else. There are not many of them. "'Classic' refers to design beauty, which, of course, lies in the eye of the beholder."

In general, several circumstances can lead to a car's rarity:

  •  A unique feature not found on other makes or models, such as gull-wing doors

  • Limited production of a particular model

  •  An older make and model with a dwindling number of vehicles still intact

  • Special factory modifications not found on other models, such as a one-of-a-kind exterior color or trim

  • A famous history, such as an appearance in a film or a VIP ex-owner

After finding and buying your dream car, there's only one thing left to do — enjoy the drive! If your new ride is photogenic, show off its best angles and live out your dream.

Truth about Scratches

Car dents and scratches are a fact of life for anyone who owns a vehicle, whether running errands around town or commuting to work in the city. Once you drive off the lot of your Jeep dealer, expect to see car scratches occasionally. From road debris to automatic car washes, assessing and promptly fixing scratches will keep your car in good condition for years.

When you notice a scrape on your car, you should evaluate the type and depth of the scratch in order to select the best damage repair remedy. While you might not be able to fix it yourself, evaluate the damage based on the three factory finish layers that come standard on modern cars: the primer layer at the bottom, a color base coat, and a top coat of clear lacquer.

The top layer of your car’s finish is a clear gloss coat that protects from the sun’s ultraviolet rays and environmental factors that can cause oxidation like moisture and contaminants. Top-layer scratches are typically superficial and leave underlying color layers intact. Common sources of damage can be anything and everything, from rogue shopping carts to windswept branches or trash.

A clear coat scratch can be fixed fairly easily with a scratch removal kit. Simply apply the rubbing compound from the kit to the mark, polish, and wax and your Jeep will look as good as new.

If your car has significant damage to the primer coat, metal or plastic will be exposed and should be fixed by a professional ASAP to prevent further deterioration. While Jeeps are known for their ability to withstand harsh conditions, ignoring a scrape during a salt-heavy winter can leave a bigger dent in your wallet when it is fixed.

Keeping your Jeep’s paint job in good condition is just as important as changing the oil. If you notice a scratch or dent on your finish, contact your favorite body shop professionals and get that taken care of.
